Dimension Filters Set-Up

Purpose and Use Case

The SAP.GETDATA function will return the data value for a specified set of dimension and member combinations.

This function is ideally used for ad-hoc reporting or specific reporting styles (e.g. a layout for a slide deck presentation).

Components

SAP.GETDATA Function Arguments
Argument What to Include Example Things to Note
Data_Source
You will need to enter the table name in quotation marks.
“Table1”
Data_source could be an existing SAC table in the worksheet, or an actual data source from SAC (e.g. SAC model which will be stored in the workbook as SAP.GETDATA(DS_#))
Dimension_or_member
Provide a dimension ID followed by a member ID enclosed in quotation marks.
“Account”, “Net_Income”, “Time”, “202403”
Please note that you will need to include BOTH a dimension and member for each dimension you want defined (in separate fields or separated by commas). You are able to specify Measure dimensions and pairs of dimension and member to target specific data intersections.

If some dimensions are NOT explicitly defined in the formula, the SAC Add-in will then use the specified dimension member set within the Filter area of the design panel.  Please note that for dimensions not defined in the filter area, a backend default value for that dimension will be used.

When adding or changing filters while a SAP.GETDATA formula exists in the worksheet, you will need to REFRESH the formula to reflect the current filter state.
