Overview

SAP Analytics Cloud now supports the commercial minus sign (Δ) as a selectable option for the “Show Sign As” property within charts and tables in stories. This enhancement allows users to display negative values in a more business-friendly format, following financial reporting conventions.

How to Enable This Feature

Key Improvements

1. Modernized UI with Improved Responsiveness

To enable the commercial minus sign (Δ) as a selectable option in the “Show Sign As” dropdown within stories, users must first enable this setting via the System Configuration tab in Administration. Follow the steps below to configure this option:

  • Click on ‘System’ from the main menu and navigate to ‘Administration’.
  • Go to the ‘System Configuration tab’.
  • Search for ‘Enable Commercial Minus Sign’.
  • Enable the option for the commercial minus sign.
  • Save your changes.

Please refer to the snapshot below.

Once enabled, story designers can select the Δ sign as the preferred display format for negative numbers when configuring charts or tables in their stories.

In the image below, toward the bottom of the Styling panel (on the right) illustrates how the “Show Sign As” property includes the minus sign (Δ) option when the feature is enabled via the steps outlined above. If this setting is not configured in System Configuration, the Δ option will not be visible to users within the story interface.

After the setting is enabled, below is how the commercial minus sign would look like when used in the table.
