Introduction

SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) now supports page preloading in both view and embed modes. This subtle yet powerful optimization significantly reduces the wait time when navigating between pages by initializing elements of the neighbouring pages ahead of time.

What is Page Preloading?

Page preloading proactively loads parts of the next and previous pages in the background. As a result, when users move between pages, content appears faster and more seamlessly. This feature is especially useful in large dashboards or data-intensive stories where delays can disrupt the analytical flow.

How To Enable Page Preloading

  1. Open your story in Edit Mode
  2. Go to Data RefreshLoading Optimization Settings
  3. Enable the Preload Pages option

Once enabled, your story will intelligently prepare adjacent pages, making page transitions notably quicker.

Advanced Benefits of Page Preloading

Beyond speed, page preloading offers several strategic advantages for power users and enterprise scenarios:

  1. Improved User Engagement: Reduces loading friction, keeping viewers focused on insights rather than waiting for visuals to appear.
  2. Enhanced Mobile Experience: Particularly beneficial for mobile users, where network speed may be inconsistent.
  3. Optimized for Embedded Analytics: Preloading ensures smoother transitions and more reliable performance when embedding SAC stories into third-party platforms or applications.
  4. Better Support for Real-Time Collaboration: In environments where multiple users navigate shared stories, preloading helps maintain consistency and reduces lag.

Notes

  • This feature is available only in optimized stories using the full viewer.
  • If you previously enabled it for present mode, it now automatically applies to view and embed modes.
