In SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), input tables are essential for entering and editing planning data. These tables are embedded in your story and tied directly to your planning model, enabling real-time collaboration, calculations, and planning actions—all from a visual interface.

What Is an Input Table?

An input table in SAC is a grid-based component in a story page that lets you:

  • View existing (booked) data
  • Add or adjust planning values manually
  • Interact with tools like version management and the planning panel

You can only perform planning actions on tables that are connected to a planning model, not an analytic model.

How to Add a Table to Your Story

1

Open your story in SAP Analytics Cloud.

2

From the top toolbar, select Insert > Table.

3

Choose a Planning Model that supports data entry and versioning.

4

The table will appear with default dimensions and measures populated.

5

In the Builder panel, configure your rows, columns, filters, and layout.

6

Ensure that Planning is enabled on the table (check the planning settings).

7

Set Unbooked cells to be visible so you can input data into empty cells.

8

Apply filters to limit the table to your planning area—for example, filter by version or region.

Note

  • If your model doesn’t support planning, you won’t be able to use planning features like data input or version management.

Enabling Data Entry in the Table

To allow data input:

  • Make sure you are viewing a planning-enabled version (e.g., Forecast or Budget)
  • Click on a cell in the table to activate planning tools
  • You’ll see unbooked cells as dashes (–) and calculated cells in gray text, which cannot be edited

Interacting with Version Management

Tables provide direct access to the Version Management Panel, which lets you:

  • Switch between public or private versions
  • Enter Edit Mode to make changes
  • Publish or revert your changes after planning

You must click inside the table before the Version Management Panel becomes active.
