SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) gives users the ability to safely edit planning data using versions. Whether you’re updating forecasts, simulating changes, or finalizing a budget, SAC provides built-in controls to edit, publish, or revert changes—all from the Version Management Panel.
Editing a Planning Version
To make changes to planning data, you must first enter Edit Mode on the version you want to work with.
How to Edit a Version:
1
Open your story and click inside a table tied to a planning model
2
Open the Version Management Panel from the toolbar
3
Hover over the version you’d like to edit (e.g., “Forecast” or “Budget”)
4
Click the three-dot menu (⋮) and select Start Edit Mode
5
You’ll see a label appear: Planning Edit Mode
You can now make changes directly in the table—inputting values manually, using formulas, or adjusting data through the planning panel.
Tips
- Make sure you’re working in the correct version before editing. All changes will apply to that version only.
Reverting Changes
If you make a mistake or change your mind, you can revert the version back to its previous state.
How to Revert:
- Use the Revert or Revert All option in the Version Management Panel
- SAC will undo any changes made during the current edit session
- You can also view Change History to see what was modified and when
Notes
- Reverting is available only while you’re in Edit Mode. Once you publish, the changes are saved to the model.
Publishing Changes
Once your edits are complete, you can publish them to make the changes permanent and visible to others (if working in a public version).
How to Publish:
1
Click Publish Data from the top toolbar, or use the Publish button in the Version Management Panel
1
Confirm the version and scope of your changes
1
SAC will update the version in the planning model
Notes
- Only users with the right permissions can publish to public versions. If you’re unsure, check with your admin or model owner.
