Overview of Updates to Filters/Input Controls
Introducing brand new changes to Input Controls in your story design! In this blog post, Iâll give you a look at the new and improved interaction and experience with Input Controls within your SAC stories. These changes are meant to improve the user experience and increase performance â these changes include (but are not limited to!): better search functionality, efficiency for large value lists, and a settings panel. For example, the search function will now highlight the search results! Dimensions with large values of members will load faster! A settings panel will better organize the design!
Filter by Member Dialog â Improvements (Feature Explained)
The main focus of this feature is the enhanced usability of the âInput Controlâ feature. The main benefit is for the designer/story builder, however, because of the efficiency improvements, some of the changes also have positive benefits for the end user of a story (such as handling of large member lists and highlighting search function).
Here is the comprehensive list of the enhancements and an explanation of each:
- New behavior-to-exclude values: Now, to exclude certain values from your input control, you can simply select âAll Membersâ and then de-select the values you want excluded. This enables the ability to still use the âAllâ option but exclude a few that you may not want end-users to see/filter.
- Improved interaction with readability of values: Lists load faster, larger view frame for longer lists, easily expand/contract nodes.
- Focused search bar allowing wildcard search, with highlighting of search results: When searching, the result matches are highlighted/bolded which improves the user/visual experience.
- Introduction of a settings panel that better organizes the settings: To adjust the âSettingsâ of the Input Control, there is now a button on the top right of the dialogue box. Once selected, you can make selections for settings such as booked vs. unbooked members, ID or Description (or both), Selection type, etc.
- Optimized space usage and responsive design: Larger dialogue box with more room to make selections, display member IDs/Descriptions, longer list view, etc.
- Efficient handling of large value lists: Dimensions with large numbers of members will now load faster and more efficiently. Additionally, the larger dialogue box allows more members to show at a given time.
These changes are a major improvement to the user-interaction experience when working with Input Controls. They apply to all story filters, page filters, and chart filters â the only exception is table filters where youâll still experience the original filter dialogue box.
