Overview
SAP Analytics Cloud has introduced native live data connectivity with Google BigQuery (GBQ), marking a significant advancement in real-time analytics and cross-platform data federation.
Traditionally, data from external sources like BigQuery needed to be imported or replicated into SAP Analytics Cloud for use in dashboards or planning models. That meant additional storage, time, and resource management—especially for Extended Planning and Analysis (XP&A) scenarios.
Now, with native live connectivity, SAC users can connect directly to BigQuery datasets. The data stays in BigQuery, and SAC simply queries it live, executing operations on demand with no data replication into SAC.
This unlocks:
- Real-time data access with zero replication
- Lower infrastructure complexity
- Faster time-to-insight
This marks the beginning of a broader strategy to enable federated, live access to a diverse landscape of enterprise data sources, further bridging the gap between cloud data platforms and SAP’s unified analytics layer.
Key Benefits of SAC–BigQuery Live Integration
Real-Time Data Access
Access BigQuery data live—directly from the source. SAC queries are executed in real-time on BigQuery, enabling instant visibility into the most current data.
Eliminates Data Replication
Avoid the overhead of importing or duplicating data from BigQuery into SAC. This not only optimizes storage usage but also simplifies governance and reduces operational complexity.
Enhanced Analytical Capabilities
Blend and analyze BigQuery data with additional sources in SAC to unlock richer insights and more contextual analytics, particularly useful in cross-functional planning scenarios.
Future-Ready Architecture
This rollout paves the way for upcoming native support for other enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake, Oracle, Impala, and Azure Data Lake, reinforcing SAP’s vision of an open and interoperable analytics ecosystem.
