Introduction to Lite Viewer for Core BI Stories
SAP has released a Lite Viewer for Core BI Stories for SAC in 2024.02 QRC. It is not currently available for stories that use Advanced BI or Planning features but plans to introduce it sometime in 2024. This will be especially useful for those who value fast loading for quick digestion of dashboards.
Updating Your URL
The current requirements include:
- The story must be within the Optimized (Unified) Experience.
- Limited to Core BI Dashboards.
- Planning or Advanced BI features are not currently supported, and the story will be redirected to the full Optimized Experience View Mode.
- The story must be opened via URL while using shellMode=embed.
In practice, it may be cumbersome to add to the URL every time the story is opened. However, the new URL containing shellMode=embed can be used by adding it to a landing page. When selected, the dashboard opens up the story in the Lite Viewer mode in another tab.
SAP plans not to require the shellMode=embed in the future; rather, a story will open in the Lite Viewer mode if the story meets the requirements.
