Introduction
In SAP Analytics Cloud, you can add dynamic text to stories to provide additional information. Dynamic text automatically updates the text based on either the values from the source input control or filter, or from any filters applied to dimensions.
Dynamic Text Labels:
You can apply Dynamic Text to update text values depending on the requirement as current date, last user to edit, or use filter or input control values to display updated filtering information.
Procedure:

Select a text box in your story. Click on the ellipses (3 dots) and select Add -> Dynamic Text.

In the Insert Dynamic Text popup, select the checkbox for the object you want to use for the dynamic text. You can scroll through all the options or select an option from the left side panel to display specific objects on the right.
The Insert Dynamic Text popup has the following options:
Story Properties
- Current User
- Current Time
- Current Date
- Last Modified Date
- Last Modified Date/Time
- Last Modifier
- Creator
- Tab Number
- Page Number
Note
The current user in dynamic text is displayed in display name, while last modifier and creator are displayed in user ID.
Dimensions
- Choose hierarchy, level, ID or description display.

Team Signature
- Use the team signature to identify who is authorized to modify the story.
Note
When the story is modified by someone who isn’t a member of the team, a warning message is displayed instead of the team name through a dynamic text that puts a mark in the story as a trust factor.

Select a Dynamic Text option and click on Create.

Open the Designer and select the Styling panel.

In the Dynamic Text section, change the following options.
- Show excluded values as strikethrough
- Number of values displayed
If you select Input Control as the Dynamic Text and under Number of values displayed, if you enter 5, then the first 5 values are displayed in the specified input control, and extra values will be specified in parentheses.
Results
The dynamic text has been added to the story. The text will be updated based on the values from the source or filter, or from any filters applied to dimensions.
