Introduction
In SAP Analytics Cloud, you can add dynamic text to a chart title or subtitle. You can change the title of a chart to include dynamic text from elements that are in use in the chart, such as filters, dimensions and so on.
Procedure:

In a chart, select the title or part of the title. Right-click and then select Dynamic Text.

In the Insert Dynamic Text dialog, select the checkbox for the object you want to use as the source for your dynamic text.
You can scroll through all the options or select an option from the left side to display specific objects on the right.
Dynamic Text Options:
Story Properties
- Current User
- Current Time
- Current Date
- Last Modified Date
- Last Modified Date/Time
- Last Modifier (last person to modify the story)
- Creator
- Tab Number
- Page Number
Note
The current user in dynamic text is displayed in display name, while last modifier and creator are displayed in user ID.
Dimensions
You can specify:
The hierarchy and level to display
Whether to show the ID or description
Input Controls
- Calculation Input Controls
- Measure Input Controls
- Structure Input Controls (Optimized Story Experience)
- For Classic Account Model, labeled as Cross Calculation Input Controls
- Dimension Input Controls
Filters and Variables
- Story Filters
- Tile Filters & Variables
- Includes filters used in charts, tables, and geo map filters (Optimized Story Experience)
Note
- Tile filters and variables will not appear on mobile devices.
Model-Specific Options
- Model Variables
- Model Properties (Optimized Story Experience)
- Last Refreshed Date and Time from any SAP BW live data model used in your story
Chart Properties
You can dynamically insert:
- Measures
- Dimensions
- Scales
- Units
Team Signature
Used to identify who is authorized to modify the story.
Note
If someone outside the team modifies the story, a warning will be displayed in the title instead of the team name. This acts as a trust factor using dynamic text.
Script Variables (Optimized Story Experience)
- Only variables of type string, number, or integer are supported
- Arrays are not supported
- During view time, global variables change according to customized scripts and automatically update in the text widget
Results
Dynamic text is successfully added to the chart title or subtitle and will update automatically based on the referenced source or control.
