Introduction
Widgets let you bring live data from SAP Analytics Cloud directly into your PowerPoint slides. They allow you to bring live data from your SAP Analytics Cloud stories straight into your presentation slides.
Adding a Widget
- Sign into the add-in with your SAC credentials
- Open the side panel to search for an SAC story
- Select the page and choose a widget you’d like to insert (only optimized stories and supported widget types will be available)
- Click on the widget to preview it, then select Add Widget to place it on your slide
Note: Only chart-based widgets are supported. Tables, geo maps, and some custom elements won’t appear as options.
Editing and Refreshing
Editing
Before adding a widget to your slide, you can make a few quick adjustments:
- Apply filters
- Sort members
- Define rankings
- Drill into the data (where supported)
Note: These edits happen in the Widget Preview—once you add the widget, further edits must be made in SAC.
Refreshing
To update widgets with the latest data:
- Click the Refresh button in the SAC ribbon
- Choose which widgets to update (individual, per slide, or all)
- Click Refresh to pull in real-time data from SAC
Note: You’ll need to be signed in to refresh content.
Current Limitations
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Supported environments: PowerPoint for Web (Office 365) only
- Only optimized stories work with the add-in
- Unsupported widgets include:
- Tables
- Geo maps
- Input controls and analytic application components
- Widgets are static images once inserted—no interactivity or editing on the slide itself
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Can I insert multiple widgets from one story?
A: Yes! You can add as many supported widgets from a story as you’d like, one at a time.
Q: Can I change the widget after it’s added to a slide?
A: Not directly. You’ll need to remove it and re-add it after adjusting the settings in SAC or in the Widget Preview.
Q: Do shared presentations still show the data?
A: Yes, but only if the viewer also has access to the SAC story and is signed in.
