Overview
If you’ve ever spent a little too much time hunting down currency rate tables, you’re not alone. I’ve been there too. That’s why I’m genuinely excited about a new feature coming with the next SAP QRC 2 2025 release: the migration of currency rate tables to the File Repository.
With this update, all existing currency rate tables will be moved into a centralized Currency Conversions folder, which you’ll find under the public section of My Files. It’s a simple shift, but one that makes a big difference. Everything is now in one consistent, easy-to-access location, with no more guesswork and scattered data.
For me, this change is all about working smarter. Whether I’m building planning models or just need to reference up-to-date currency data, having everything neatly organized in one place helps me move faster and stay focused.
It’s great to see SAP continuing to invest in the little things that make a big impact. And this is just one of several updates in SAP QRC 2 2025 that aim to make our day-to-day work more intuitive.
Let’s look at what’s new in the system.
1. Managing Currency Rate Tables within My Files
Managing currency rate tables within My Files gives you complete control over how your data is organized and accessed. Once the tables are saved in your file repository folders, you can easily view, edit, and organize them as needed.
You can move tables between folders, ensuring they’re stored in the right locations according to your project or workflow. Plus, if you need to adjust permissions, you have the flexibility to control who has access to each table, helping you maintain data security and collaboration.
With full flexibility in managing your currency rate tables, you can keep everything neatly organized and accessible, improving both efficiency and workflow. Whether you’re updating data, sharing tables with colleagues, or organizing your files for future use, My Files provides a centralized space for all your currency conversion needs.
2. Conversion Tab
In the Conversion tab of the Modeler, you’ll find a list of the most recently used currency rate tables, along with their folder structure location. This makes it easy to quickly access the tables you’ve worked with most often, ensuring smooth navigation and efficient workflow.
When you create a new currency rate table, the system offers a convenient navigation panel that allows you to choose exactly where to save your table. This flexibility lets you organize your tables based on your needs and project requirements, saving time and keeping everything in the right place.
For users with the appropriate authorizations, there’s even the option to save these tables directly to workspaces in the Datasphere. This integration provides seamless connectivity, allowing teams to share and collaborate on currency rate tables in real-time within the Datasphere environment. By streamlining the process of saving and organizing tables, users can ensure that their data is stored efficiently and is accessible to the right people.

3. Importing Currency Data
You still have the flexibility to import currency data into rate tables either from a local file or a remote data source using the Import button. This feature is especially useful when pulling in regularly updated exchange rates or migrating existing data from other systems.
For imports coming from remote sources, such as BPC, Google Drive, HANA, or BW, you can not only execute the import but also view and schedule import jobs directly within the Data Management workspace of the currency rate table. This allows you to automate recurring updates and monitor the status of each job, giving you better control and transparency over your data integration processes.
A Currency Import Job can be scheduled by following the highlighted path below:
When working with currency rate tables, selecting the right table is straightforward. A convenient drop-down menu lets you choose from available tables, clearly displaying their directory structure or Datasphere workspace location, depending on where the table is stored. This makes it easy to navigate across environments and ensures you’re always working with the correct dataset, especially helpful in larger or more complex planning models.
Currency Data can be either imported from a Table or File by following the highlighted options below.
Together, these features support a more streamlined and organized workflow for managing currency data across your planning landscape.
4. Import Currency from BPC
Now, instead of starting the process with BPC, the first step is to manually create and save your currency rate table in the file repository. Once that’s done, you can then import your currency data from BPC using the Import button, just like you would with any other data source, such as HANA, BW, or Google Drive.
Choose the BPC data source from the Import button by selecting the highlighted option:
Select the Target table and the desired connection Type from the list of available Connection Types:
This update brings BPC in line with the standard currency import process, making the user’s experience more consistent and reducing the need for separate, source-specific tools. While it’s a slight adjustment, it ultimately makes managing currency data across different platforms smoother and more intuitive.
5. Model Preferences Setting
Within the Model Preferences section of a model, you’ll find the Currency Conversion Settings, where you can select a currency rate table to use in your model. What’s helpful here is that the selection interface not only shows the name of each currency rate table but also displays its directory structure location. This makes it much easier to identify the correct table, especially when working across multiple projects or folders, so you can stay organized and confident in your selection.

Despite these improvements in table visibility and navigation, it’s worth noting that the process for creating currency conversion measures hasn’t changed. You’ll continue to define and manage these measures just as you always have, using the selected rate table to drive conversions between currencies.
In short, while the interface now provides clearer context and better integration with file structures, your workflow for applying currency conversion in models remains consistent and familiar.
6. Security
There’s been a shift in how access to currency rate tables is managed within the Security / Roles section. Previously, a drop-down arrow listed all available currency rate tables for selection. That’s now been removed to streamline the interface and promote more scalable access control.
Instead, read permissions for all currency rate tables can now be assigned directly through user roles, allowing administrators to manage access more efficiently at a higher level. This is especially useful when you need to grant access to large groups without assigning permission to one table at a time.

After Changes:
If you need finer control, you still have the option to manage individual table-level permissions directly within My Files. This is where you can set specific authorizations—such as read, update, or delete, for each table, giving you the flexibility to tailor access based on individual responsibilities or project requirements.
This updated approach balances simplicity with flexibility, making it easier to manage security while still maintaining precise control where needed.
7. Transport
In the Transport section of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), there’s a helpful update when it comes to managing currency rate tables. These tables now appear in the Public folder within both the Export and Import features, making them much more accessible when you’re packaging content for transport across systems or environments.
This change brings a significant boost in flexibility. You can now export or import currency rate tables individually, rather than as part of a larger package. This is especially valuable for customers who want to transport specific tables without affecting other content or configurations—ideal for testing, updates, or environment-specific customizations.
Whether you’re moving tables from development to production or simply sharing them across different workspaces, this enhancement gives you greater control and streamlines the process of managing your currency data across the SAC landscape.
With all these enhancements to currency rate table management in SAP Analytics Cloud, working with currency data has become more intuitive, flexible, and aligned with modern workflows. From easier access in My Files to streamlined import options, improved security and role management, and better transport capabilities, these updates empower modelers and planners to work more efficiently and collaboratively.
Whether you’re organizing tables, importing from BPC, or transporting content across environments, the new features give you the control and visibility you need, without adding complexity.
As always, stay curious, explore the new capabilities, and make the most of what SAC has to offer.
