In Data Analyzer, two key panels allow you to configure and refine your analysis: the Builder Panel and the Styling Panel. Each serves a distinct purpose—one for structuring your data view and the other for formatting it visually.

Builder Panel

The Builder Panel is where you define the structure and content of your table. It’s the primary workspace for choosing what data to analyze and how to display it.

Key Functions:

  1. Select Dimensions and Measures: Drag dimensions and measures into rows or columns to build your table layout.

  2. Swap Axes: Flip the orientation of the table by switching rows and columns.

  3. Apply Filters: Add filters to focus on specific values (e.g., Region = North America).

  4. Search and Browse Available Fields: Use the search bar to find fields quickly within the model.

  5. Manage Hierarchies: If the data source includes hierarchies, they can be expanded or collapsed.

When to Use It:

  • When you’re starting an analysis from scratch.

  • When you want to change the data shown or adjust the drilldown path.

  • When applying variable input prompts or switching measures.

Styling Panel

The Styling Panel is used to format the visual appearance of your table. It controls how data is displayed, without affecting the underlying structure or logic.

Key Functions:

  • Change Number Formats: Customize decimal places, currency symbols, percentages, etc.

  • Enable Totals and Subtotals: Show aggregated values at the top or bottom of rows and columns.

  • Compact Display Mode: Reduces white space and row height for a more condensed view.

  • Table Styling: Adjust font styles, alignment, background shading, and zebra striping.

  • Display Settings: Control whether empty rows or columns are shown.

When to Use It:

  • After you’ve built your table and want to improve readability.

  • When preparing an insight for export or sharing.

  • To align visual styling with organizational standards.
