Once you’ve structured your table in Data Analyzer, the Styling Panel allows you to format the display for clarity, readability, and export readiness. Formatting does not change the data itself—it simply changes how it appears to the user.
Accessing the Styling Panel
Click the “Styling” tab on the right-hand side of the screen. This opens a panel with several formatting categories including number formatting, layout options, and visual settings.
Number Formatting
You can apply number formats to measures or dimension values.
Available Options:
- Decimal Places: Set the number of digits after the decimal.
- Scale Format: Show values in thousands, millions, etc.
- Currency Symbols: Display monetary values with appropriate symbols.
- Percentage Formatting: Convert decimal values to percentages.
Note
- Formatting applies only to the selected column(s). Use Ctrl + Click to select multiple columns.
Totals and Subtotals
You can display totals and subtotals for both rows and columns:
- Enable Totals: Adds summary rows or columns to display grand totals.
- Enable Subtotals: Breaks down totals by hierarchy or group level.
- Positioning: Choose whether totals appear at the top/bottom (rows) or left/right (columns).
Totals are especially useful when working with nested dimensions or when exporting reports.
Compact Display
The Compact Display option reduces row height and padding, making tables easier to scan—especially useful for large datasets.
- Toggle this option on or off via the Styling Panel.
- Ideal when exporting to PDF or working on smaller screens.
Visual Styling Options
You can customize the appearance of your table for better readability:
- Text Alignment: Left, center, or right-align headers and data cells.
- Font Weight: Bold headers or total rows to distinguish them.
- Zebra Striping: Alternating row shading for visual separation.
- Cell Backgrounds: Highlight specific values or rows (manually applied).
Note
- Conditional formatting is not supported in Data Analyzer. For advanced formatting rules, use a Story table widget instead.
Display Settings
Control additional display behaviors:
- Show or Hide Empty Rows/Columns
- Enable Hierarchy Indicators
- Show Member Keys or Descriptions (if both exist in the model)
These settings help you control the level of detail in the view, depending on your use case.
