The Data Analyzer is a table-based analysis tool in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) used for ad-hoc exploration of data models. It can be launched in several ways, depending on the user’s starting point and access level.
Launch Options
There are three main ways to launch the Data Analyzer:
1. From the SAC Home Screen
- Navigate to the Main Menu → Data Analyzer.
- You’ll be prompted to select a data source (e.g., SAC model, BW query, HANA view).
- Once selected, the Builder Panel opens with the structure of the model.
This is the most common entry point for creating new ad-hoc analyses or insights.
2. From the File Repository
- Go to Files → Your Folder or Team Folder.
- Open a saved Insight file (file type: .insight).
- The file opens directly in Data Analyzer, with filters and layout preserved.
This is typically used to revisit existing insights or shared analyses.
3. From a Story Table (Optimized Experience Only)
- In a story built with the Optimized Story Experience, right-click a table widget.
- Select Explore in Data Analyzer (also called Launch Data Analyzer).
- The system opens a new analysis session based on the same model and filter context.
This allows analysts to drill further into data outside the constraints of the story layout.
